the main point I wanted to make was that while we had a limited number of exotic cultural identities (Scottish, Irish, etc), IP was not that great a problem, and could be subsumed or tolerated within our ambient Australianism (Burns Nights, St Patrick's Day, etc)
but once our postwar culture became too multi, pandering to a panoply of other identities becomes uncomfortable and objectionable and difficult (Somali?)
but it is the price we must pay for our multi-cultural modern Australia
