It's good to see that Peter is no longer preaching that European Muslim citizens are a "civilisational challenge" who are likely to cause "a transformation in European civilization that is profound, irrevocable and very much for the worse" unless all other European citizens strive unremittingly to subdue them. Thankfully the related theme that Islam has aggressive imperial ambitions and is endlessly seeking world domination has also been put back into its box.

I am pleased also that Peter is no longer saying that ordinary 'majority Muslims' are "docile" and so weak-minded that they are easily led seriously astray by "noisy activists" who may or may not be radicals and extremists.

Also encouraging is that Peter is no longer saying that Muslims, in concert with Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party, are trying to impose sharia law on part or all of Britain. I presume he also now thinks that Australians can similarly stop baselessly worrying about this.

All that was seriously silly and bigoted and I'm glad he's casting it aside. To complete his transition I suggest he stops relying so heavily on Civitas, an opaquely funded hard-right think tank, similar to Australia's ineffably bonkers IPA, and seeks out much more balanced and reputable reading that is not so agenda-driven.

It's always heartening to see someone move past pretentiously phrased 'civilisational challenge' junk thinking and I wish him the best for his continuing recovery. If he should relapse back into it he need not worry that I'll "point the bone" at him, he will be able to write about it as long as he likes.

But, as I'm not interested in dressed-up bigotry, I won't be reading it. I'm not interested in rehashed beat-ups deriving from reading tabloid hacks, far-right scaremongerers and addled, brainless think tanks. I prefer to examine real issues such as, for example, the democratic erosion occurring in the world's superpower:
