Did this hatred of self/Western world/Western values and especially the USA and the other English speaking nations begin as part of the rebellious1960's, or was it around before? I can recall left- wing student groups invading a talk of which they disapproved and attempting to drown it out. What is different now is that those who seem to believe that they KNOW what is correct and proper attempt to make it official university business to block the "unsavouries" via platforming and even pulling down historical monuments.
Racism, imperialism and the others are not confined to the West and there are still some mini-empires outside the West (e.g. Turkey, Iran, Russia and probably the biggest China) whereas we have tried to mend our ways.
Exaggerated identity politics is just the latest manifestation of pathological self-criticisism .
