The points I've made do not adopt a consequentialist framework but stem from an alternate teleological perspective; namely, identity politics misconstrues and over-simplifies the inherent nature of identity. Poor consequences often flow from poor design - you have illustrated that point well. However, the root problem is in the design; that is, in the original misconceptions underpinning the concept of identity in this type of political activism. Specifically, the misconceptions relate to cliched, stereotyped and excessively narrow focal points of interest creating bogus paradigms of identity.
